Brett Hodgson is determined to “reignite the flame” between Hull FC supporters and success.

The 42-year-old landed in the UK a fortnight ago and has not wasted any time in getting straight down to business as he prepares to welcome the squad back to the Jacuzzi Elite Performance Centre for pre-season training in the New Year.

Black & White fans are chomping at the bit to get back inside the KCOM Stadium to see their side in action.

In his first interview with hullfc.com since arriving at the club, Hodgson expressed his passion to help steer the club towards success for the fans.

“I’m really excited about what the fans can bring in terms of their support,” Hodgson said.

“I want to reignite the flame that the fans have for enjoying success.

“The supporters of every club is the backbone of what every club is, and I can’t wait for fans to be able to get back into the grounds because of the atmosphere.

“The KCOM Stadium was always my favourite ground to play at over here because the crowd was right on top of you.

“There’s 20-odd thousand that you can get in there and really fill it up, so I’m really excited about that.

“I know fans have had to sacrifice the opportunity to get to grounds and watch what they love, so hopefully we’ll all get back to normal soon.”

Hodgson spent five years in Super League, ending his playing career at Warrington Wolves after a two-year stint with Huddersfield Giants.

He remained in the country for a number of years to venture into the coaching side of the game, before returning to Australia in 2018.

But now he is back in Northern England, Hodgson feels like he has never been away.

“I love it. I always felt like Northern England was like my home,” he said.

“I was here for nine years. I initially only came over for two years, but now that I’m back here I’m loving the life again.

“I enjoy where I’m living and I enjoy this part of the country.

“The Covid restrictions haven’t really affected me that much – at the moment I’ve just been doing work at home anyway.

“I’m not the sort of person who gets out much anyway! It’s affected the world entirely and there’s people who’ve been a lot worse off than what I have.”

Keep an eye out on Hull FC Live from 6pm, when the full interview with Brett Hodgson will be available to watch.
