Cameron Scott has previews tomorrow pre-season clash’s against York City Knights, as well as looking ahead to the 2021 Betfred Super League season.

The young centre is set to line up against the Betfred Championship side tomorrow evening, where he spent the 2019 season on loan, impressing the Knights supporters during his spell in North Yorkshire.

However, it will be new surrounds for both Scott, and the entire Black & Whites squad tomorrow as they play their part in the first ever Rugby League fixture at the new LNER Community Stadium.

Speaking to hullfc.com ahead of the game, Scott said: “I really enjoyed my time at York – 2019 wasn’t the best year for me but I went there and gained a lot of confidence. It is a club full of great people and coaching-wise, they have everyone’s best interests at heart.

“With what they’ve done with recruitment ahead of this season in particular, they’ve made themselves a real force in that division.

“I’m looking forward to going back and seeing some familiar faces who helped in my development.”

Looking ahead to the 2021 Betfred Super League campaign, Scott added: “It’s a big year for me personally – this is the first time I’ve gone through pre-season knowing that I am staying here instead of the possibility of being out on loan.

“I’ve had a good pre-season and I’m pleased that this is where I’m going to be this season.”

However, Scott knows he finds himself in the pecking order between two of the competition’s top centres, but explained he is willing to learn from the pair, and is keen to take his chances when they become available.

“Josh and Carlos are arguably two of the best centres in the competition but they’re fantastic to learn from. Competing with them day in, day out, is only going to better me going forward – then it is up to me to take the opportunity should it come up.

“Their is never any arrogance from them – they’re keen to teach me things and I always want to learn off them. If I can be half the player that either of them are, I’ll be pleased with myself.

He added: “Injuries happen in the season, so if do I get a chance to slot into one of them centre spots, I want to make sure it is my shirt to lose, so I need to take my opportunities when they come up and prove I can do a strong job.”

On his relationship with new head coach Brett Hodgson, he continued: “Brett has been great – the way he communicates with us is excellent.

“When I have been out on the field, he is always prepared to come and give you a tap on the shoulder and tell you what you’re doing well or need to improve on. He is big on making people accountable for their actions and it’s going well.

“Obviously Josh and Carlos are ahead of me but he’s said to me that opportunities will come for me to get my chance, mainly around those games with the shorter turnarounds, so I just need to make sure I take them chances when I get them, and he echoed that.”
