Jordan Lane previews Saturday’s trip to Leigh

Club News

Jordan Lane has explained the importance of Hull putting a strong run of performances together over the next month, but says his side cannot underestimate Leigh Centurions this weekend.

Hull travel to the Leigh Sports Village on Saturday, with the hosts without a win so far this season.

However, the forward says that the side have showed what they’re capable of in attack in recent weeks, having come close to earning a result against Catalans last week.

Speaking ahead of the match, Lane spoke of the difficulties of having a depleted squad, but explained the importance of Hull putting a strong run of performances together over the course of the next month.

“We’re a bit low on numbers at the moment with a few injuries in the camp, so having a few days off over last weekend came at the right time for us so those of us who are fit to play could rest up and get our bodies right for this week.

“It’s going to be an important few weeks for us, and with us not being able to field our strongest team, it’s going to be really tough for us.

“Whoever comes into the team, we have trust in them to do a decent job. We’ve got a run of games coming up that we want to be winning with our full focus on the league now.

He added: “You have to get your mindset right. Some people may be playing our of position due to the injury situation, but it is juts about doing what is right for the team.”

Previewing the Centurions, the back-rower is keen not to underestimate Super League’s bottom-placed side after they showed their try-scoring capabilities in last week’s 30-36 defeat to in-form Catalans Dragons.

“People will be expected us to go over there and pick up an easy win, but we as players can’t have that mindset. They have a dangerous attacking side and they’ll be throwing everything they’ve got at us in attack.

“I’ve seen bits of their game against Catalans this week and it was a very fast game, which plays into their hands with their style of play. We can’t afford to let them have that and we’ve highlighted that all week.

“These are the games that we need to be winning if we’re to be pushing those top three sides in the league this season.”
