History. Reinvented: Hull FC Unveil 2023 Principal Jersey

Hull FC’s 2023 principal kit has officially landed

Club News

Hull FC have revealed their 2023 principal jersey as the Black & Whites return to their traditional irregular hoops for the new Betfred Super League campaign.

The club has reverted to its iconic and most popular jersey style for 2023 as we mark the 40th anniversary of our 1983 Rugby League Championship title – the shirt is a modern take on the strip worn during that title-winning campaign by the likes of club icons Lee Crooks, David Topliss and James Leuluai.

The shirt also features subtle hints of gold, as a tribute to the success of that season – just one of several pieces of silverware won by the club during their golden era of the early 1980s.

In a unique addition to the new shirt, all of the jerseys will come equipped with an electronic tag hidden within the club crest as part of a new digital initiative that will be launched ahead of the new season, which will allow fans to access a new and unique interactive fan experience just by tapping the badge with their mobile device.

If you prefer something a little more traditional, the club have also revealed a retro cotton version of the new jersey – even closer to the original jersey worn in 1983, the traditional shirt features long sleeves and the traditional club badge – the retro jersey is available to pre-order now.

The club’s Match Day Range is also provides a throwback to the early 80s, being a modern recreation of the team’s anthem and training jackets from that period.

The range includes a warm-up tee, quarter zip sweater and an anthem jacket and these will be worn on match days throughout the season.

1983 was a remarkable campaign for Arthur Bunting’s side, as they built on the success of their Challenge Cup Final Replay victory in 1982 – Hull fought off the challenge of Wigan and Hull KR to secure the title on the final day of the season as they took on Barrow at a packed Boulevard.

It was Hull’s sixth league championship in their history and secured the team’s squad as one of the most successful in the history of the club – all while wearing the iconic black and white irregular hoops.

Once again designed by technical and merchandise partner hummel, the jersey and accompanying range also features the brand’s eye-catching chevrons, with main club partner Atropa Pharmacy taking pride of place on the front of our principal jersey, while global brand Jacuzzi, the club’s Elite Performance Partner, also feature on the sleeve of the jersey once again.

Atropa Pharmacy have been the club’s main partner since 2020, and features on the front and centre of our principal jersey for the fourth season running as the partnership has goes from strength to strength, with hundreds of fans having signed up to their free prescription delivery service.

Elsewhere, our principal black shorts which complement the kit feature the familiar names of returning partners PBS Construction, Kinetic Laboratories and JLP Scaffolding, while the University of Hull feature on the side’s playing socks in 2023 as the club prepare to move into their new training facility on the university campus ahead of pre-season.
