The Black & Whites fell to defeat against reigning league champions Wigan Warriors in their opening match of the Betfred Wheelchair Super League campaign on Sunday, going down 54-16.

Despite finding themselves just 6-0 behind at the break, Wigan showed their class in the second-half, scoring nine tries in total at the Allam Sports Centre.

Defences were on top in the first forty minutes, with Wigan’s early score through Greenhalgh gaining the only points of the opening half.

The visitors came out of the blocks firing in the second-half however, scoring thirty unanswered points and running away with the scoreline before FC could respond.

Jack Heggie picked up four scores after the break for the champions, before the Black & Whites responded with three late tries, through Tristain Norfolk, and a brace for Josh Edwards.
