The world champions are coming to town!

The KCOM Stadium will host a mouth-watering 2021 Rugby League World Cup group stage clash next Autumn as Fiji will take on current holders Australia in Hull.

The full fixture list and schedule for the event has been revealed this morning, with the KCOM Stadium set to host three matches across the tournament, including the Kangeroos’ clash who take on a Fijian side based in Hull during the tournament.

The fixture, which is sure to be one of the biggest clashes of the group stages, will take place on Saturday 23rd October (19.30), the opening day of the competition, with Hull also set to play host to two other fixtures.

The KCOM Stadium will host one of the Men’s quarter-finals clashes on Saturday 13th November (19.30pm), with the fixture preceeded by a Women’s group stage clash between Papua New Guinea and Brazil (17.00).

Rugby League Would Cup 2021 promises to be the biggest and best World Cup in the history of the sport, as the men’s, women’s and wheelchair teams all compete at the same time in a major sporting first.

Australia last played at the KCOM Stadium back in 2005 against Great Britain, with next year’s group fixture their fourth visit to the venue. Meanwhile Fiji will head back to the ground having taken on England there in their group clash back in 2013.

However, it will be the very first time that the stadium has hosted a Women’s Rugby League clash as Brazil and PNG go head to head.

The full fixture list for Hull is as follows:

  • Australia vs Fiji (Men’s) – KCOM Stadium (Saturday 23rd October) – 19.30
  • Papua New Guinea vs Brazil (Women’s) – KCOM Stadium (Saturday 13th November) – 17.00
  • Men’s Quarter-Final (Teams TBC) – KCOM Stadium (Saturday 13th November) – 19.30

In June, it was revealed that Hull will be the team training base for Fiji’s men’s team.

Jon Dutton, RLWC2021 Chief Executive, said: “This is a huge moment for the tournament and for fans in our host cities and towns as we reveal the full fixture schedule.
