Hullfc.com sat down with Campbell’s Laser Products Owner Brian Campbell to discover more about their commercial partnership with the Black & Whites – our longest standing commercial partner!

How did you first get involved with Hull FC commercially?

We are the longest current-serving commercial partners of Hull FC, having begun our partnership over 20 years ago! We have actually been on the crossbar of the Hull FC goalposts since The Boulevard era.

I remember when a combined Hull FC and Hull KR team played against Great Britain at Boothferry Park and we produced the goalposts. They moved the posts to The Boulevard and we felt that the crossbar would be a fitting place to advertise. Now the goalposts are at the KCOM Stadium and our company brand is still standing tall!

Many years ago we featured on the collar of the playing jerseys and we have also advertised Campbell’s Laser Products on the back of the shirts in recent seasons.

We’re a family business and we all had to buy the shirts as a memento. It was great to see Campbell’s back on the jerseys in the past.

Tell us a little bit more about Campbell’s Laser Products and what you do as a company

Campbell’s Laser Products was established in 1961, so we’ve now been in operation for over five decades and we are a steel fabrication company.

We can do absolutely anything with steel, really. That’s exactly what our motto is. What we do is we buy the steel in sheet form and we have a number of machines that can shape the steel.

We have welders and cutters to allow us to do whatever we want with the material, ultimately.

Amongst our proudest moments are the unveiling of both fishing memorials in Hull, one on St. Andrew’s Quay and the other in Zebedee’s Yard. Also the People’s Memorial near the Hull City Hall, along with too many others to mention. All of these were made my Campbell’s.

We supply to about 500 to 600 customers around the country and we produce a real variety of products.

How proud does it make you to sponsor the club when you have such a passion for Hull FC?

Again, I’m very proud that our company is still associated with Hull FC, because at the end of the day we’re fans of the club.

I’ve supported the club since I was a young boy and in that time we’ve been through thick and thin. I can remember watching us play against Huyton back at the Boulevard and I can say that there were 927 fans there that day – I’m proud to say that I was one of them!

But you look at how far the club has come since and it’s amazing. Our brand is on show in front of huge attendances at the KCOM Stadium, so it’s a great time to be around!
