Every Monday during the COVID-19 pandemic, we will be featuring some of our Hull FC Key-Worker Heroes – supporters working on the front-line to keep the country running, nominated by you, in association with Atropa Pharmacy.

Richard & Ruth Kirk (Nominated by Kathy Kirk)

I would like to nominate my son Richard who is a DC with Humberbeat and his wife Ruth who is a Radiologist at HRI.

They have three boys who are all Hull FC fanatics. They spend their lives juggling because obviously us grandparents are available. Thank goodness for Minster School in Beverley where the two youngest are able to go as children of essential workers.

Ruth in particular is a hero doing regular night shifts at HRI. She doesn’t drive so has to use public transport to get from Beverley.

Sue Prime (Nominated by Alan Prime)

My key-worker hero is my wife Sue Prime. She is a mobile carer. She’s out at all times of the day helping vulnerable people with every day stuff.

When she’s not at work, she’s visiting her mum who is high risk with COPD and doing her shopping. Our eldest daughter is expecting her second child in June and my wife is knitting booties and cardigans for our “soon to be here” Grandson. Our daughter won’t have to worry about clothes for a bit when he finally turns up. She’s a true hero to all of us.

Nick Lamb (Nominated by Karen Lamb)

Nick is a senior care worker working with vulnerable children and young people.

Nick works with a number of children of various ages – he is supporting them during the COVID-19 pandemic in keeping safe, keeping themselves healthy and supporting their mental health each day. He is working with his colleagues to find new and fun things to take part in and supporting their educational needs.

Nick is also a huge Hull FC supporter and has promoted the interest in this sport with those he cares for when at work getting tickets to take the children to matches prior to COVID-19.

He also promoted young people’s health through this sport, he supports and is a trainer for children’s rugby club. He encourages the rugby through Life For A Kid, and takes part in the charity rugby matches in raising money for children with disabilities and additional needs alongside his dad, Reverend Phil Lamb.

Hayland Broadley (Nominated by family)

Hayland Broadley works for Heron Foods as a HGV driver delivering food up and down the country to different stores.

Hayland “H” Broadley he is a big inspiration to his family as he has been working really hard this past couple of months making sure the stores are all stocked up for people all up and down the country. I don’t think the truck drivers get the gratitude they often deserve working really long hours to keep the shops stocked through this pandemic

We all appreciate everything you do for your family, all four kids Tia, J, Sian and Chace all look up to you and really respect you and all the truckers out there. Keep it up, we love you!
Dave Cousins (Nominated by Tina Cousins)
My husband David Cousins is a Hull City Council fostering social worker. Dave has continued to support foster careers and children with foster care placements throughout the current pandemic.
He has done this from home which at times he has described it as ‘ like doing your job with one hand behind your back‘  which must be incredibly frustrating and difficult as the job in usual circumstances is very stressful.
I have continued to work out of the home and he has taken the pressure from me by supporting our 16 year old son through the stress of not been able to complete this final year at senior school and to maintain his physicality whist training from home to complete his Hull FC scholarship.
Dave has guided our 12 year old daughter Morgan through her home education and kept her smiling. He has done this as well as maintaining his full time job to an incredible standard.
I am proud and grateful to have Dave as my husband and father of my children.
