Chris Satae has won Hull FC’s Atropa Pharmacy Player of the Year for 2021 at tonight’s virtual awards, brought to you by CCT Infotech.

Having completed only his second full season at Hull FC, Satae has also earned the respect of his peers and fans, winning the club’s Jacuzzi®️ Players’ Player of the Year and KayGee Engineering Supporters’ Player of the Year, in association with FC Voices.

2021 has been a fruitful year for the Tongan prop forward, who has contributed some outstanding individual performances, whilst also penning a two-year contract extension with the Black & Whites.

Satae has crossed the try line on four occasions in all competitions this year, with two of those tries coming in Hull’s Betfred Challenge Cup quarter-final win against Wigan Warriors in May, with supporters calling his performance that day one of the best by a front-rower in recent years.

The 28-year-old made some 1,782 metres throughout the season, with in excess of 200 metres made by Satae in two separate meetings with Leeds Rhinos.

Satae was presented with his award, as well as the David Topliss Memorial Trophy, by Atropa Pharmacy’s Company Director, Bryn Smales.

Cameron Scott, a regular feature in Brett Hodgson’s side this season, has won the Young Player of the Year, in association with Hull FC Vice Presidents. Like Satae, Scott has clocked up 20 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring twice.

With over 1,000 votes coming in for the SS Testing Try of the Year, Jack Brown’s effort in Hull’s big victory over Leigh Centurions sees him crowned this season’s winner.

Three academy players proudly made their Super League debuts throughout the season as Aidan Burrell, Marcus Walker and Jacob Hookem all made their senior debuts. It was the latter who secured the Academy Player of the Year, with five tries to his name with the club’s Under 19s.

Club Photographer Steve Mower won the Volunteer of the Year thanks to his efforts at first team and academy matches, both home and away, as well as coverage at several club events over the last twelve months.

Club legend Johnny Whiteley MBE was also awarded the club’s Outstanding Contribution Awards; previously awarded to Steve Prescott MBE, Andy Last, and Gareth Ellis over the last decade, Hull’s former captain was awarded the prestigious honour to mark the end of his 90th birthday year of celebrations, and to pay tribute to his lifetime of service to the Black & Whites.

Whiteley was presented with the trophy by fellow Hull FC Hall of Fame member, Lee Crooks.

Media Executive Luke Greaves claimed the Martin Merrikin Clubman award for his dedicated efforts over the last 12 months in the club’s Media & Marketing Department, as well as putting his hand up to support the club’s retail department throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, and developing and improving the club’s media output from the Hull FC Academy, Centre of Excellence, and Community Foundation.
