Hull FC were originally scheduled to face Huddersfield Giants at this week – however, with the game postponed, we’re looking back at one of our most memorable moments against the Giants in recent seasons, in association with Kinetic Laboratories!

Instead, we’re running today’s Throwback Thursday piece on the Black & Whites’ 48-8 win at the John Smith’s Stadium in 2017, when Marc Sneyd scored a rare hat-trick!

Although it was the Lance Todd Trophy winner who scored three tries, it was Sneyd who assisted the first try of the night, floating a pass wide for Fetuli Talanoa to crash over in the corner.

Sneyd then turned provider to scorer when he intercepted a pass inside his own half and raced away to score underneath the sticks.

Before long it was Sneyd’s halfback partner Albert Kelly who posted Hull’s third try of the match, slicing through with guile.

Sneyd had his second of the game when he linked up nicely with Mark Minichiello to poke his head through a gap, managing to plant the ball down despite the attention of several Giants defenders.

Hull continued their dominance in the second half with an important try which put the game well and truly out of reach for Huddersfield, with Kelly showcasing more expert footwork and balance to dance his way through to the try line.

A cut throat break ended in Josh Griffin’s first try for the club, scoring against one of his former employers.

Having conceded 36 consecutive points, Sam Wood stopped the rot with a try in the corner for the hosts, but that was quickly cancelled out by Carlos Tuimavave’s lung busting run to the try line after yet another Huddersfield error.

Sneyd had his third try of the night thanks to a Griffin break down the wing. The scrum-half had the awareness to provide the support on the inside to claim his hat-trick.

Oliver Roberts claimed a consolation try in the closing minutes for the Giants, but it was a memorable victory on the road for the Airlie Birds.
