Following the recent news that Super League will soon be returning, Hull FC chairman Adam Pearson has issued the following update for our members.
Dear Supporters,
I would like to thank you for your incredible support in recent weeks, standing by us during what has been an incredibly difficult period for everyone.
I hope that you and your families are in good health and would like to pay tribute to the many key workers and frontline staff who have been leading the charge against Covid-19 – many of whom are Hull FC supporters.
The recent announcement of Super League’s restart was met with excitement and frustration in equal measure – particularly the prospect of a sport with no crowds for a limited period of time which is difficult for the club and our supporters.
The number of games behind closed doors remains uncertain, predicated to us by strict government guidelines, but with a little more clarity on what the season may look like including the inevitable impact on our members and corporate partners.
We remain committed to delivering value to these supporters to try and offset the disappointment of any games they aren’t allowed to attend.
At the same time, we must try and find a way forward that secures the future of the club whilst we have no income other than our monthly membership scheme.
We are exploring match day streaming opportunities with Super League to provide live coverage of behind closed doors games – which is hopefully the next best thing – as well as options to make up for lost fixtures which we think are not only fair, but also offer some exciting and rewarding opportunities for our members too!
Over the next few days we will be liaising closely with members and our supporters’ groups to discuss and feedback on the options we have prepared, which we intend to publish in the near future.
Appreciating the sacrifices of our members and corporate partners in these difficult times – whether it be health or financial hardship – it makes us very proud to have such people associated with our club.
My message continues to be one of unity and solidarity. On behalf of everyone at the club, I cannot thank you enough for the support you continue to provide by honouring your membership payments and commercial agreements.
We can only provide strength and stability if you stay with us. Your support is absolutely critical to the survival of the club over the coming months.
Super League clubs are projecting multi-million shortfalls, upwards of £4 million in some cases, and it is no different at Hull FC.
I continue to support the club personally and will provide the financial guarantees necessary to ensure our survival, whilst our Directors, staff and our players continue to go above and beyond in their contribution to Hull FC. But we cannot do it without you.
Whilst the future of the club is in the balance, we look forward with great anticipation to more enjoyable times ahead, starting with the return of rugby league in just a few weeks!
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder – I am sure I speak for everyone involved with Hull FC in saying that is certainly the case when it comes to our love of the sport and our club.
We look forward to sharing our membership update and options with you as soon as possible.
In the meantime, I wish you the best of health, safety and prosperity.
Thank you again.
Best Wishes,
Adam Pearson
Chairman
Hull FC
