Joe Cator has said that Hull’s completion rate and energy levels were key to their success in yesterday’s victory over Huddersfield.

The young utilty-forward lined-up at loose-forward in the 31-12 win over the Giants, putting in one of his best performances so far in a Black & White shirt.

Speaking on the victory, Cator said: “It was a fantastic performance, especially given the fact it has come on the back of us having two weeks locked at home with us not being able to do much training at all.

“The way we performed in that first-half particularly in terms of our attack is testament to our desire to get back on the horse. Hopefully that quietens a few of our doubters because we have had a lot of stick fired our way in recent weeks.

“Physically we worked for each other throughout the full eighty minutes.”

Cator paid credit to Hull’s much-improved completion rate and energy levels around the ruck which led to FC’s try -scoring frenzy in the first-half.

“Our completion rate was so much higher. We completed at 95% in the first-half and only lost the ball once through an unforced error. As long as you play your own game, we’re tough to stop.

“We showed a lot of energy which helped us win a lot of penalties, with tries scored on the back of that. We were winning a lot of rucks which led to them hanging on, us getting the ball again and scoring on the back of it.

“Our defensive effort in the second-half was huge. Especially with losing Sneydy and Mahe getting sent to the sinbin. We didn’t panic when we faced some adversity when Huddersfield got a bit more of the ball in attack near our line.

He added: “I’ll stand up to play whenever I am called upon. I’m a Hull boy so it means a lot every time to pull on this jersey and I’ll always be giving one hundred percent.”
