Empower Project Returning To In-Person Delivery With Packed Schedule

Empower Project Returning To In-Person Delivery With Packed Schedule

Many of the Community Foundation’s Empower project programmes will resume in the coming weeks.

Community News

Programmes that form part of the Hull FC Community Foundation’s ‘Empower’ project will begin to be delivered in person once again from this week, with a new jam-packed timetable issued.

Originally launched in September last year, the ‘Empower’ project is a new initiative designed to support individuals who may have faced challenges with their wellbeing over the national lockdown periods to re-engage in sport and receive expert support around their physical and mental health.

‘Empower’ forms part of the Foundation’s longstanding ‘Teaming Up for Health’ partnership with NHS Hull Clinical Commissioning Group which for the current delivery year involves a focus on delivering programmes that seek to reduce loneliness and isolation within targeted groups.

In developing ‘Empower’ to ensure it offers an evidence based, need led approach, the Foundation has teamed up with both Hull and East Yorkshire Mind and the Humber, Coast and Vale Health and Care Partnership to shape an innovative project that reaches those most in need at this difficult time.

Despite the recent national lockdown meaning that projects have not been able to be delivered in person over the past few months, the easing of restrictions this week allowing the return of grassroots sports means that many of the individual programmes that form ‘Empower’ can resume in person.

Some sessions have now resumed, with others returning in the coming weeks.

Our Women’s, Girl’s, LDRL, and Wheelchair sides will all be back in action with in-person, physical training sessions resuming, with all sides on the look out for new players to take part.

Meanwhile, our Cheerleading sessions are also due to resume, as well as regular favourites Touch Rugby League, FIT4FC, and Rugby Tots.

Our Coffee Corner sessions, featuring interviews with past and present players which have proved hugely popular during the national lockdown, will also continue.
