Hull FC are pleased to announce that Jack Charles and Will Hutchinson have been named in Paul Anderson’s England Academy squad.

England’s U18s take on France at Warrington’s Halliwell Jones Stadium on Tuesday 2nd July (7.30pm).

18-year old half-back Charles, who has enjoyed his breakthrough season into the Black & Whites’ first-team in 2024, is the squad’s most experienced name, having made eight senior appearances so far this season, as well as running out for FC’s academy and reserves outfits on multiple occasions.

It’ll be the Beverley Braves junior’s second consecutive season representing the side, having started the game in the halves against France in Saint-Gaudens last July.

Meanwhile, exciting hooker Hutchinson is named in the squad for the first time having enjoyed an impressive start to his campaign with the Airlie Birds’ academy and reserves side.

The pacey Skirlaugh Bulls junior played for Yorkshire Origin alongside Charles in 2023, but is now also in line to represent his country next month.

As well as proudly representing their respective junior clubs, both players are products of Longcroft School’s rugby league side.

Elsewhere in the squad, Wigan’s Jack Farrimond, Warrington’s Cai Taylor-Wray and Aaron Lindop, all of whom have made their senior debuts this season, are set to feature.

Head of England Pathways, Paul Anderson, said: “I’ve been following the progress of players in the Academy, Reserves and Super League competitions from the start of the season, and I’m really excited about what this squad can achieve.

“In preparing for this game we’ll expose the players to the kind of environment they might one day experience at senior international level, so ahead of the match the squad will come together at Leeds Beckett University, where the facilities are excellent and which is a fantastic base for the pathways programme.

“The players I’ve selected are a credit not only to their professional clubs, but to their former community clubs too. They wouldn’t be where they are without the likes of Beverley Braves and Halton Hornets.”

The match will be streamed live on the RFL’s YouTube channel.
