Hull FC have been out in the community once again, raising awareness of the ‘Faith In Our Future’ partnership with NYCDA, and generating more funds for our Centre of Excellence.
As part of the recent visits, Hull FC and NYCDA headed to visit Mark Sands and the team at longstanding club supporters and automotive mechanics A1S, to share the good news of their prize and to find out more of their love for all things Hull FC.
Whilst focusing on some of the bigger prize winners from time to time, it is equally important to focus on our other winners, who contribute to the Black & Whites’ Centre of Excellence and its associated player development programmes across the City of Hull and wider East Yorkshire region.
So when we visited A1S recently, we were delighted to present Mark Sands with a cheque for £100.
Mark spoke about his love of the club and some of his family’s experiences of following the Black & Whites through the years, discussing memories from first following the club in the 1970s during Hull’s days at The Boulevard.
His favourite players include a couple of famous Kiwi faces to have represented the club, including James Leuluai and Dane O’Hara, as well as Steve ‘Knocker’ Norton. His most longstanding memories include the two losing trips to Wembley for the Challenge Cup Finals in 1980 and 1985. The irony is not lost on him that he didn’t make the trip to London for the back-to-back cup winning matches of 2016 and 2017, but he was delighted nonetheless.
