Hull FC interim head coach Simon Grix has provided an injury update on members of his squad.

The Black & Whites travel to the South of France this weekend to take on Catalans Dragons at the Stade Gilbert Brutus in Betfred Super League Round 19 action.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Grix confirmed FC will be without Davy Litten for the weeks ahead following a knee injury picked up in Saturday’s victory over Wigan Warriors.

“We’ve picked up a couple of injuries – we like to give the lads as long as we can in the run up to a game, but it’s a little bit tricky this week with us being up against Catalans and flying out the day before.

“The team won’t be far different but we could be looking at a couple of changes at this stage.

“It’s a bit of a shock really and it’s really disappointing for Davy as he’s had his shot and taken it well – it wasn’t long into the game, he came out of a tackle a bit gingerly. He managed to get through the game okay but the next day, we’ve picked up on his knee being a bit unstable in some testing.

“We sent him for a scan and it’s come back as an MCL injury, medial ligament on the inside of his knee – he’ll do well to get out there again this season.

“He felt fine and thought the scan was over the top, but the medical staff have been proven right so fair play to them.

“No surgery we hope, but they’ll have to check on that later down the line.”

On Brad Fash and Logan Moy, who both missed the win over Wigan, he added: “Brad’s got a stiff neck. He’s one of our concerns this week and we’ll review later in the week.

“Logan’s shoulder is a bit better. He can’t do contact yet but he’s getting there.

Providing an update on new recruit Jed Cartwright’s foot injury, Grix added: “Jed is making progress. I don’t have a definitive timescale on his injury.

“He’s due to come out of the boot this week so it’s a matter of how fast he can progress from that.”

Grix also provided an update on long-term absentee Charlie Severs who is currently sidelined with a shoulder injury.

“He’s had a couple shoulder surgeries and unfortunately, he hurt his shoulder again. As far as I’m aware, it’s not looking good for him in terms of his longer term health around his shoulder.

“We’ve got a life to live after this game and if he can’t get his shoulder into a position where it’s right for him to play every week without pain, there’s a difficult choice to be made.

“If his shoulder isn’t going to get right, there’ll be some tough times if it keeps persisting, so there’s a decision to be made for him. We’re supporting him through it and he’s still coming in for treatment.

“It’s a really unfortunate situation for such a young bloke. He’s getting head around what he wants to do next. Whether that’s part-time, or some time away from the game to let his body recuperate, we’ll have to see but he’s making inroads into different things in preparation for that”

Danny Houghton (calf), Joe Cator (back), Jack Ashworth (ankle), Mitieli Vulikijapani (knee), Nick Staveley (knee), and Zach Jebson (leg) all remain sidelined through injury.
